Do you guys know if I would be able to install a FF quad rail on a 14.5" upper that has a pinned flash hider? I'm not sure how you would do it, but I don't know much about gunsmithing AR's. I just wanted to know if I had to buy it with a quad rail or if I could buy one and configure it how I want.

The Samson Star-C is a great 2 piece free float rail that mounts using the stock Barrel nut. Mine is very sturdy. they come standard on severa Stag models.

Dremel tool and a cut off wheel will take you down to the barrel nut. Just cover up and or tape off everything around the ring and cut away. YHM makes a two piece that just replaces the stock handguards without modification, I think Midwest Industries makes one like that as well.

The Daniel Defense Omega free float installs without removing anything and it's one of the lightest, strongest rail systems you can get. I have one on my Colt and it's tits!

+1000 for the Daniels Defense set up. Great rail/Cheese grater (what I jokingly call all rail systems) set up without major rework! I have installed quite a few for guys. KurtM

There is also nothing stopping you from removing (i.e. cutting) the pinned flash suppressor and FSB to install a FF rail as normal. You will simply have to replace/pin/weld a new flash suppressor on the barrel. Adco can do all of this for you.

True, but that's a waste when some of the best rails don't require it, IMHO.
