AR15 pistol

I am going to build an AR15 pistol and eventually SBR it. But in the mean time I am wondering if I "must" use a a designated pistol lower or can I put any lower on the little guy?

It is my understanding that I can use any lower as long as it has been logged as "lower" by the FFL. Is that correct?

never registered as a long gun or had a stock on it...best bet is go see Steve @ Cold Hand and have him take care of you

I was told as long as the 4473 doesn't have rifle on it and the lower has never had a stock on it is ok.
When I built mine I bought a new lower just to make sure.

I have spikes pistol marked lowers, but it doesn't really matter. It just depends how you build it the first time. You are to keep it in that configuration, unless you change it to an SBR.

I want to use a lower that does not say pistol so that I can SBR it later. I'll holler over Christmas break. Thanks Steve.

Thought I'd bump this older thread instead of starting a newer one. It answered a couple questions I had about SBR and AOW in regards to registering.

Now I wan to know who all makes AR pistols and is there a different mechanism so I could get one without the buffer tube.

??? the bolts gotta go somewhere.
somebody once made one that the recoil spring was up the side
and used a little short bolt. but I think it still had like a 1/4-1/2 size tube.

The closest you are going to get to an AR pistol with no buffer tube is the Kel Tec PLR16...
