My dad recently bought up some wooded, hilly, land near Locust Grove to hunt deer on. Problem is, there are wild pigs running around that seem to be running off the deer.
So, I'd like some tips to prep for my first pig hunt. I guess some guys use dogs, I don't have any. So, can anyone give me tips on how you hunt pigs?
My only rifle is an SKS, I exepct that's acceptable. The only other thing I could use is a shotgun with slugs.

Do you need a Ok hunting License? Do you track them or sit still and wait for them?

I've got the hunting ground and a friend with a smoker lined up. I need advice for the part in betwixt.

Thanks!

We've been seeing them on our tree camera, before some low life stole it. At first it was all deer around my dad's feeder. Lately it's nothing but pigs. He took one with a .22 magnum.

If you really want to thin the herd you will have to trap them. Hunting won't do what you want. Remember one sow can have up to three litters a year, and as much as eight or nine baby's. Good luck.

Truth. If you're wanting to get rid of them you're going to have to trap them. Also being able to breed as early as six months old, it doesn't take long to have more than you can handle.

Like the guys said, to thin them out you will need to trap them. Shooting them or at them everytime you see them will move them off the property (don't know how much land you have) for a time but if you are feeding the deer they will come back. Good luck!

Napalm works best, but if you don't have any of that handy, lots and lots of hunting of them can thin them out. Shoot the sows and smaller females. Before long, the males will move off to other places with females.

If you've got them you might as well get used to them. We hunt them out of Helicopters down here and can sometimes kill 50 or 60 a day (once or twice a year) and it doesn't even put a dent in the population.

That's true. The way they breed things are only going to get worse. Trapping can eliminate a group of them but rest assured theres another one somewhere close waiting to claim the area.
