Well, it's bad about the kids, but like GMT said, hanging out at Bills with the kids isn't a bright place to be. I don't know what's inside, cause I ain't risking it, but I live about .5mi from it.

Since I moved here a year ago, the number of shots in the vicinity of Bills averages much greater than 2-5/day. Rifle, pistol, and shotgun, I hear them rather frequently.

My only hope for this area(since I will not live here permanently) is the plan I hear of a TPD station at 56th and Cincinnati, and that increased patrols when it happens will clean the area up.

ETA: I didn't really pick this house either. Since we were moving from VA, and I was still in the Navy, I let my wife do all the legwork, and since she's cheap, she found us a house with a great price in an area that didn't sit on the crime maps when we were looking at them. I can assure you that I will be going with her the next time we do cross country house shopping though, as I CAN tell the difference between medium/low-income-yet trying to live nicely, and ghetto. . .

Better to leave them alone and let them kill each other.
Putting pressure on that area will just cause them to move and spread the violence all over Tulsa worse than it already is.

You'd think that would happen, but it isn't working well enough. I mean the let them kill each other part. . .

As a follow up to my previous post, it literally sounded like a damn war zone last night, from dark until about 9:30. Most of it was in the houses just West of Bills. If I had to make a guesstimate, I would say 50-75 shots fired in that time frame. Never heard any sirens either.

WOW... 50-75 shots fired :explode:

since you live close by, hard to dispute the source.
had NO idea it was that bad northside.

hate to be the rookie cop that starts there.

Is Bill's the place on Cincinnati, west side of road, by Greeley Elementary? I drive that road often going to my inlaws in Sperry, but never pay much attention to the name of the places.

I will tell you the liquor store at Cincinnati and Mohawk Blvd was jumping on New Year's Eve :D Though I just drove by and certainly wasn't stopping in there.

I remember the crime rates increasing after Tulsa reduced the number of officers they had. I was curious if Tulsa has reinstated the number they have on their force to try and combat the rising statistics?

Cops dont prevent crime they are only there to investigate it after a crime happens. It is very rare that a cop actually is at a call like Murder in progress or such like that. Thats why every time the cops came to my house before they always say ''Well you should get a gun and protect yourself'' That was after some hoodlums wanted some problems. But cops only investigate crimes and write reports and give speeding tickets.

No, Bills is the little rundown gas station just South of the 56th St N/N. Peoria intersection. I honestly didn't think they even sold gas, but I wouldn't gas up there if I was running on fumes.

The backdrop for Bills is an old strip mall type setup. The whole thing has 3 businesses in it-a Med-X that gets robbed every other week(or so it seems), a liquor store, and a barber shop.

Tulsa Home Sprayed With Bullets, Kids Inside

A North Tulsa mom and dad woke up to bullets barreling through the walls where theya and their five kids were sleeping.
FOX 23 talked to the grandmother about how the family just moved in and do not know why this shooting happened.
Tulsa police say at least 17 shell casing were found in and outside of a home at 214 E. 43rd St. N. shortly after 11:30.
During the initial investigation, TPD say the family was not the intended target, simply victim’s of mistaken identity.
Grandmother, Diane White looks at the bullet holes and she relives the phone call from her son, saying what happened.
“My heart just stopped,” she said. “I don’t even want to think of what could have happened.”
On the other side of those bullet holes left behind, her five grandbabies were sleeping.
One bullet barely missed her baby grandson who was in the front bedroom in his crib; she says shell casings were found next to him.

“We’re blessed they weren’t hurt,” Diane said. “We just thank God.”

Officers are not done with the investigation, but say the people living in the home previously had been a constant problem, and say it is highly likely the shooters thought the previous homeowners were still there, when the house was shot up.
