I liked that he was honest about why he was where he was. "I went to school for it, but then alcohol and drugs... I'm two years clean now."

Good for him.
I agree. It is refreshing to hear someone who has made a mistake taking responsibility for their own actions rather than trying to put the blame on someone else. I hope he can handle all the new found fame and can be a long term success.

It shouldn't take long for people to start talking about how the Cavaliers replaced Lebron James with an old homeless guy.

When his YouTube vid first started getting attention, a user posted a comment basically saying that they know this guy, he's not clean, can't be trusted, and at least recently, if not still, he has/had a relationship with the comment poster's mother or grandma (as well as other women) and he beats her and pimps her out and he absolutely deserves nothing that the people want to give him.

Of course, with the anonymity of posting on the internet you have to take comments like that with a grain of salt, but I have no more reason to not believe that comment than I do to believe it.

Nothing would surprise me. Hopefully the Cavs did a little due diligence on this guy. If he flakes out, it will be another huge embarrassment for them.

If the comment poster is legit he must not be much of anything if he can't keep that old man from pimping out his mom or grandma (ugh). Of course his mom or grandma must not be turning many tricks if the pimp is still on the corner asking for coin.

I do have a bad feeling this will not end well. I just don't think you can pluck a recovering addict from the street, give him fame and at least a little fortune and not expect a relapse. Everybody he's ever known is going to ask him for something now. I think it will be a lot for him to handle. I hope he succeeds.

I said it on the other thread about this.... Radio to homeless is not a big stretch. I won't say this as a blanket statement... but too many people I knew in (local) broadcasting were a stones throw from hitting the street most of the time I knew them... drinking and drugs are a big part of life and these folks get swept into the life on a regular basis.

I hope this story has a happy ending

You know I think this is great because he screwed up, but does have something to offer. I REALLY hope he does well with this and shows the world that random kindness(this is not exactly) and the "pay it forward" theory can be great.

I would be interested to see how he is doing in 6 months or a year.
