All the photos of the 9mm AR's have had me salivating for some time - thanks, guys :P

I really don't want to have to get into SBR forms and paperwork or the tax stamp cr@p, though. So I've been looking around for a 9mm A4 16" carbine upper where I could specify a low-profile gas block base instead of the A2 front sight. The reason being, at some point I'd probably want to install a fake can that extends from the muzzle back down the barrel to tuck under a railed HG. I know I could get an upper with an A2 FSB and just remove the sight, but why pay for it just to remove it, and pay for a low-profile base to install in its place? The railed HG will allow me to install a VG.

I see that RRA has a complete 9mm CAR upper where I can specify a gas block sight base and a DD 9.5 FSP. However, with the DD, that's an expensive upper! Does anyone know of an upper manufacturer that offers a good 9mm upper with a low-profile base and a railed HG for less money?

Also, I'd also have to get a mag well adapter to hold a 9mm magazine in a non-dedicated lower, correct? Any recommendations for that, or is the Spike's magwell block already the best option?

Get off my lawn.
If you want a rail that covers the front gas block just remove the gas block. 9mm ARs don't use a gas system.

I don't know about the spikes, but the Hahn mag blocks are the best. Just pick the one that suits your needs the best. I'd go with the top loading dedicated block if you're not gonna SBR. No real reason to run multiple uppers on a regular lower. If you SBR, then I like the bottom loading block so you can have the bolt hold open and still easily switch calibers.

I have been thinkn of adding a 9mm ar to my arsenal. And while this is not a 9mm it may be the direction you wanna go w it. Cut front a2 front sight, spector length yhm rails, spikes fake can

That does look a lot like what I'd want to do - thanks for the pic!

I've been doing a bit of research in preparation for the purchase of a 9mm AR upper. Is it true that I would need a dedicated 9mm hammer and buffer in order for it to work properly?
