I am looking for a good hunting knife/set of knives. I want a skinner with a good rounded blade and a gut hook. Don't know if I want a fixed or folding blades, but I do want want one that has a good quality type of steel. Please post up some pic's of what you currently use. I know there are a ton of brands (buck, Ruko, Knives of Alaska, ect...)

The finest knife you can buy is made in Stillwater by Dave McCroskey. Google McCroskey knives. I have gutted, skinned and cutup 8 deer WITHOUT resharpening. My son and I own 5. He does not make one with a gut hook. I have never needed a gut hook. I know of only one knife that is sharper than one of Dave's. That would be a Boeker which is a ceramic blade. It is harder than dave's but it is more brittle and therefore more likely to snap. I have used Dave's for the past 15 years. Call him, you won't be sorry.

I have one of Daves knives as well. They are made to fit your hand. Pretty nice looking too.
The steel is the same alloy used in Jet engine turbine blades.
The Rockwell hardness on my blade is a 65. They will hold an edge.

Which models do you have and which one do you feel is the best alround model?

I have many of Dave's knives, my favorite is the one he calls the Willow. I doubt that he has any left, and might not be making any more of them, but it is absolutely perfect as an everyday knife!
