Everybody in public service is like a hand in a big bucket of water....pull the hand out and the water fills the hole.

If don't want to put up with the politics of a combined department, there are plenty of other ways to serve your community on a volunteer basis. Does your town/county have a CERT team? If not, take all the skills you learned in the fire service and maybe start one up.

When you retire as a volunteer firefighter, what do you get? You dont get a pension, you probably dont even get a gold watch, hell, you probably cant even retire from being a volunteer? This post makes no sense at all...

And where did you come up with this info? Yes we do have benefits, $400 in tax credits each year and a little retirement (currently $156 a month for the rest of your life after 20 years) So what makes no sense???? but its not the money, its helping the community that most people are in it for

I agree with you both. It's not about the money, what little there is, and not to try and start something, but the folks who don't do it, don't understand it.

Many of us have "outlasted" a boss. Hang in there. If he's doing things like that to you... he will be doing the same to others in your company soon enough.

What comes around goes around- so don't cut your nose off despite your face.
