My step-daughter is in 1st grade at Westfield in Edmond. They are getting ready for their end of year class party. The teacher sent out an email to all the parents with a list of things she would like the parents to bring ie. snacks and drinks and whatnot. Well one of the parents replied that she would be bringing RedBull for the party since that is her daughters favorite drink. Really what the hell is wrong with people! My wife called to complain, left a message for the principal to call her back and sent an email to teacher. Are parents really giving this stuff to their kids at this age. Hell might was well bust out the vodka why were at it.

I would never give redbull to my kids, nor do i let them drink alot of soda. i got my kids hooked on orange juice.

I can see why you would be upset, but just because they are bringing it to the party doesnt mean your child has to drink it.

If some parents think its okay for their kid to drink it then that is their poor decision.

this reminded me about last sunday when i saw someone i know at the mall. it made me mad that their kids were dressed in really trashylooking cloths, but the parents were dressed to impress. I totally felt like punching someone in the face.

Last time i saw them was when we had all the snow. i saw them at walmart and their kids were not wearing jackets, oh but the parents had them on.Some people just shouldnt have kids.

Hell, redbull isn't much worse than coke or pepsi or mountain don't. My son hates anything carbonated, but my daughter loves her soda's. I limit the hell out of her intake, and lately have banned all drinks with caramel coloring. Clear pops are bad, but not AS bad. I personally don't touch any of em. (altho I used to by the case)

I dont have some rebull or coke laying around to compare but a quick google suggest that redbull has about 4 times more caffeine in it than soda.

not sure if that could be considered worse but i know that neither are good for your health.

A 8.4 ounce can of Red bull contains 80mg of caffeine as opposed to 30/35 mg of caffeine in a 12 ounce can of Pepsi or Coke. Also, the taurine and other chemicals that are in Red Bull have not been FDA approved

Try looking up how much caffeine is in a Venti Starbucks coffee.... be prepared...

<edit> Any my kid doesn't drink ANY pop... never. matter of fact, someone gave him a drink once (when I wasn't looking) and he HATED IT! YAY!!!!!

He drinks a bit of juice, but mostly now those flavored water Capri-Sun things. W00T!

Energy drinks are the new white trash tool to make your poorly raised kid STFU and quit annoying you at Wal-Mart.

I accidentally went stopped at a Wal-Mart on the first of the month a while back. Yeah, I'm dumb. I stood in line while land whales on scooters rolled in flanked on either side by 10 year olds that outweighed me. 90% of the kids I saw had both an energy drink (or a huge pop) and a bag of chips. At like 10:00 A.M. Women like that ought not have a functioning uterus, Jack. For reals.

Energy drinks are the Brawndo of our living Idiocracy.

I love opportunities like this to be able to coach my children first hand with the glaring, in-your-face example of how NOT to do it.

You can preach to them all day long with no results, but the next step before them having to learn it the hard way on their own is to "scared straight" them with Red Bull mama in all her glory right in front of them.
