NO way I'd fill out a 4473 form just to bid on something that odds are will go for MUCH higher than what it's actually worth.

seems a like total waste of time to me ... unless they've got a super rare gun you've been looking and are willing to pay $$$ twice what it's worth.

Ya I understand the auctioneer wanting to try and protect themselves and all that, but filling out a blank 4473 just to bid seems odd.

Having a 4473 floating around signed with personal information isn't prudent. Do they give them back if you aren't high bidder?

I haven't been to a gun auction in years, is this normal or just something this auctioneer is doing?

Yes, you do get them back if you don't purchase anything. They will also black out the SS Number on all of the forms.

Ok, went to this auction, the ssn was not required on the form, they did not call them in, they wanted you to attest you were able to buy a firearm, thats all, technally it was a pvt sale.
On the m1a with bipod, it was a bm-59, thus went for more than I was willing to go to, I let it go too cheap though to the winner.

$1400 on that one. $650-$725 on the IHC's.

That is fricken cheap for an IHC!!!

Depends on the condition. But yes, if the IHC's were in decent condition, that's very cheap. Now with my luck, if I'd been there hoping to snag one of those IHC's, the final bids would have been 4X higher :rolleyes2

IMHO, most of the stuff went very reasonable, to actually cheap. The only things I thought went high was the ammunition. I got a box with a full plus about half another M1 rifle for a great price. Just had to sit thru the whole thing for sure.

On the BM, was it that high, I was the second bidder, hmmm did I make it up to 1350, I cannot remember?

Glad you guys came to the auction. I was sitting at the first desk where you signed in, the old guy. I thought most of the prices were reasonable and some folks that know more about the WWII stuff said it was pretty nice.
