Can anybody tell me the cheapest place to find some 7.62x39 AK ammo thats fine to shoot at an indoor range?

+1+ on the milsurp Yugo. It is great stuff. I have thrown thousands of rounds of the stuff down range. It is corrosive, so make sure and rense with hot water after your trip to the range. I rense my AK's off in the shower. YUP! I play with my gun in the shower :-)
Not sure what is allowed/not allowed at gun ranges.. but check out www.jgsales.com, they have GREAT deals on pretty much anything gun related.. including Soviet ammo.
