Well for some reason I have been thinking about SBR a Colt AR that I have. Since the receiver is marked M4 and not LEO and gov't I was thinking it would be cool to have a 14.5" Colt upper and a 10.3 CQB Colt upper done up. Money would be an issue as no way I could afford all or one upper at once.

So here comes the questions.
1. Once I do the paperwork, submit it, and it is approved do I have to immediately pop the SBR upper on it or can I continue using the 16" upper? Chances are I will have a SBR upper by the time it is approved but want to make sure first.
2. Can I use more than one length upper on the lower even though the form has a length specified?
3. If I go a trust route, would there be any problems since I have a Class III Uzi and suppressor through the CLEO and fingerprint route?
4. Is having a SBR AR that fun?
Thanks

Get off my lawn.
I think I read somewhere that you have like a year to actually make the item specified in the form 1. Don't quote me on that, but that sounds about right.

Yes, you can swap uppers no problem.

No problems with the trust.

I have two and love them both.

"are they fun?" I like mine.

As far as questions 1 & 2 go its my understanding that I can swap uppers on my sbr and stay legal as long as I have the ability to put it into the configuration on the form. Meaning that if I have 11.5" barrel marked down I must have an 11.5" barreled upper to put on there but I can use whatever length upper I want.

I'm not a lawyer, that's just my understanding and not legal advice.

I called the BATFE asking your question number 2. I was informed, as long as it is not a "permanent" change, that would be fine.
