The old owner did zero maintenance. He had vents plugged... drain was plugged which probably made it impossible for him to clean the place. Everything is being fixed, improved... Should be much better than before.

I remember going there when I was a little kid. A friend and I used to buy gun powder there and make our own firecrackers....it's a wonder we still have all of our fingers.

That strip mall is a giant piece of **** though. Anyone paying $2200 to rent there needs to have their head examined. Needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt. Not a bad location, just bad real estate.

I used to work there prior to 1995 or so, I was the guy who loved to bring up my MG08/15 and set it on the counter. Enjoyed working there, and the range was not that bad, it seems like it could work as a range again, if ran correctly!

Im shocked! It's been closed for many years, I'll have to come by and see it sometime when I'm in town! I'll bet there was a lot of cleaning to do!!! I can't believe that lease, I hope they knocked it down some!

Will they be renting submachine guns like before?

I hope so! That was a reliable money maker back when I was working there, there were a lot of guys from the Non-Free states who used to come train at the the postal training center who came with lots of money to rent SMGs! I never understood why we didn't have an MP40 though, that would have rented more in a week than the Walther MPL ever did! I figure all the major WWII guns or well known guns like the Uzi would be renting regularly.

"does anyone remember the range under the Owens field / Stadium?"

I do, and I used to shoot there with the OU rifle team, back before 1992. We shot .22 rifles, often. The range was built in when they built the stadium, from the start.

They closed the range at OSU about the same year. I even wrote an impassioned letter to Hans Brisch, who was the Chancellor for Higher Ed. at the time, to save the rifle/archery elective class. But to no avail. We were the last class to ever get to use it.
