I was looking at some Wolf primers and am kinda confused, what kind of primers do I need to re-load .223 for my AR, small rifle magnum, or the new small rifle 223 primers, I have
H322 powder that I will be using?

While they are not required, the magnum primers will work in 223. The CCI No. 41's are magnum mil spec primers for 223/5.56. As always, start your load low, and work up. I have load recipes using the standard Federal 205 primer as well as the CCI 41. Most load data you see in text are for the regular small rifle primers.

Yes sir. The 'new' Wolf primers are supposedly slightly hotter than the Wolf SR Magnums.

US manufactured Small Rifle primers are just your standard primers.

I have heard of quality issues with the wolf primers. I have a guy at work that complained that out of 500 rds he loaded, he had 17 that didnt detonate. Of course that can be due to mishandling the primer and getting it oil contaminated but this is an experienced loader. Heard other guys gripe about them as well. I know that its hard to come up with the good stuff right now at a reasonable price but I think it would be worth your trouble to get ahold of some winchester primers...they seem to be the current standard of the industry.

I think a few years ago people were having some issues with wolf primers. I've been through about 6 or 7000 in the last year and a half and they have been great. That's my primer of choice now.

the primers they have put out over the past 1.5-2 years have been much better. I have been running the wolf 223 primer and haven't had any problems out of the last 4000 I have used for AR-15 loads.

Whichever primer you choose. ..... IF you change primers, drop your powder charge 10% and rework your loads. Any small rifle primer will work, whether standard or magnum, but they are all different. Hotter primer means higher pressure.
