Have any of you put a recoil buffer into your 10/22? I have put one in all them that are in my household. They do very little as far as function of the gun but they do seem to smooth out the action when fired.

I was on rim fire central several years ago and one of the forum members was making and selling them. I wanted to try making my own too. I tried several different materials and while looking at the ones that guy was making I realized what he was using.

It looked just like the Eagle belting that we used in the factory I worked in. I tried a piece and that was it. I posted what I discovered on that forum and it seemed like several members were kinda pissed that I had given away a secret.

The factory closed and I no longer work there but I do have some of the belting material and I would be willing to share it.

The more meaningless parts that I put in my guns, the better they work!

I haven't tried it for a 10/22 but I tried one in an AK. No noticeable difference

They sell you with the "feel good" pitch of 'it reduces felt recoil'! and it never does... But it does cushion your metal bolt against the metal receiver.

The biggest difference I noticed with them in the 10-22 is the noise level on the integrally suppressed 10-22. Used to get this little clank when the bolt cycled, still hear a little tink when it pulls back into battery, but it's whisper quiet and worth the price. Good stuff

Recoil? Thats a new one to me.

For years I did not use a buffer. They were not available. My first 10/22 (purchased 1973) eventually ended up with and egg shaped pin hole in the receiver. Shoot one enough and the steel pin will batter the aluminum receiver.

I agree that it reduces the noise level when running a can.

Okietom, I would be interested.
