He most likely hates it because everyone told him too. One of the more common reasons people hate the M9 is the pistol grip is rather large. The M9 is a fine pistol. It is quite durable. Most soldiers, sailors, Airmen, and Marines beat up all the equipment they are given. Also in order to get a government contract the M9 had to go through more tests than most pistols on the market today.

I agree with this 100%. Every time I hear someone bashing the M9 and saying how "crappy" it is I just ask them why they think that... The majority of them have no valid reason. The only malfunctions that I've encountered were due to mags that were a couple thousand years old and needed to be replaced.

I don't carry one, nor will I ever. I shoot one from time to time in state military shooting competitions, and my only complaint(besides our marksmanship pistols being shot to hell) is the grip size. I have small hands, short fingers, and I've never found a grip that I really feel comfortable with. They're reliable as hell and shoot great(besides ours), but for me it's the size of the grip.

I carried one in the sandbox and found it very reliable at the range (never used it in actual combat). My complaints was just the relatively low capacity and the lack of a rail. But it shot straight and went bang.

I started out using the 1911, which were all beat to hell in the mid 80's. Then used the M9, which I thought was a much better gun (didn't have much to compare to). Now that I'm out, I dislike the M9. The trigger is way to long for me. If I was going into combat I'd much rather have a Glock 21SF over the 1911 or M9. More capacity than the 1911, less bells and whistles than either, more power than the M9. I don't want a safety, just point and shoot. The less I have to think about the better. Reliable as hell. I'm not a Glock fan in the slightest (have got rid of every one I've bought). Would much rather carry a Sig for civilian/CCW application. For military use though, I'd take a Glock everyday of the week and twice on Friday.

Haven't you all seen Die Hard??? Enough said!

Seriously though, I overheard two military guys talking at Academy last year and they said they were gonna get .40cal soon...I think 357 Sig or 10mm would be the better choice. But 9mm was good enough for the Germans...I wanted 357 Sig, but i got 9mm pistols so I could stock a NATO round...

Why do you have to post this??? I LOVE Sig pistols but I had to pick for SHTF & CCW...so since Glocks are the AK-47 of the pistol world, I had to go Glock...Sigs are nice but their owners don't realize they are a gun that likes to run wet and are like an AR-15 in a pistol...I stake my life on Glock even though I consider Sig pistols a piece of art...Sig rifles on the otherhand are the Glock of rifles LOL
