Here, but occasionally There.
There must be some really "sensitive" guys on here. I use Gillette Foamy, a Gillette Trac II razor and the blades for it. I bought a 25-pack of blades (5 packs of 5 blades each) at Sam's and started using them on April 17, 2011. So far, in just shy of two years and one month, I'm on the 17th blade of the 25 pack. I started using that particular blade on March 24 of this year.

My shaving consists of multiple down strokes on each side, 4 horizontal strokes on each side (from ear to nose/mouth area), and multiple up strokes on each side.

I started keeping track of when each blade was started because I was debating that I might go to an electric razor. Considering how long the blades last me, why spend big bucks for an electric?

Some people probably are more sensitive (I know your method would have my skin on fire) but think of it like this. A high pointe 9mm will shoot but the experience is nothing like shooting that custom 1911. Now imagine if the custom 1911 was cheaper to run.

I've got 200 Blades I paid $20 for. Sure, I could use one until I can't stand it, but why would I? It's cheap to change and means that I get the pleasure of a fresh (or near fresh) blade each shave.

From what I have read, Dollar shave club resells Dorco razors, which you can buy cheaper from dorcousa.com. There is usually at 10-15% coupon available if you search the web.

I like them. They are cheaper than the cheapie Gillettes, and work as well (for me) as the high dollar Gillette Mach3.

1) it takes time to learn the proper technique and 2) you often have to find the right razor/blade combo. So blades are great and some are horrible with my beard.

Not to mention the right water to soap technique (which changes with each soap and water hard/softness).

Oh and your prep matters a lot.

It takes time to unlearn bad shaving habits but it is very worth it. What soap, razor and blade are you using?

a medium length handled safety razor and feather blades.

Do want!

My wife got me a nice Solingen straight razor for Christmas. I'm still working out the whole stropping process. While working on that, I'm using my great-grandfather's Schick Krona safety razor.

I had my first wet shave yesterday. It was with a vintage Schick Krona someone paid-forward from an awesome shaving forum - www.BadgerandBlade.com

I would love that brush!

Try different blades. Feathers are incredibly sharp and feel rough to some. I tried them and they gave me a scratchy shave and I managed to cut myself more often than with anything else. I use Shark blades right now and they're great. I think Astra Platinums are my #2 that I've tried so far. Buy a blade sampler pack and give each blade a fair go. Also, make sure you take your time and don't press. I make 3 passes to get most of it and then clean up the hard to get hairs on my neck afterwards. You have to be methodical and take your time.

A little more fun with Second Amendment approved razors...

I'm not yet producing the DE versions yet, but they will be coming out again very soon. I can do a pre-order if you're wanting one of the first ones and willing to wait a couple weeks while I get parts in. They use a Parker brand of head that is really well made, thick and heavy. I've heard nothing but good reports from those who purchased them in the past on how well they shave. VERY similar to the higher end Merkur closed comb heads.

Here's what they look like. I have a .50 BMG and a .45-110/120 version. CHECK OUT THE COOL COLLECTIBLE MARLIN FIREARMS BLADES! I found a stash of them and send one along with each razor.
