JesseR, do your research but I believe the cam position sensor is another one of those parts that might be handy to have an extra in the glove box along with a few extra relays, etc.

ETA: Ford has a parts distribution warehouse ( it doesn't say Ford on the building) on 61st between Garnett and Olive, its closer to Garnett.

cam sensor was my first problem

Geno's garage sell a boonie box for the Dodge Cummins trucks. I'm sure a guy could easily put together a kit like that for the Powerstroke trucks.

Now that would be a nice thing to have, a PSD Boonie Box of parts!

When you change the Cam Position Sensor, will you loose any oil or can you just swap it out on a cold motor? I know oil drains out on my Harley so I can only change the CPS when the oil is drained. Didn't know if Ford was the same..

Doesn't look like there is any issue losing oil.

Deff a cam sensor, belt, fuel filter, and tools to service the parts. You may want to change your upper rad hose if it is not already so. There were two styles of upper hoses. One that you had to take the upper rad hose off to service the belt and one style you did not. Speaking from experience, it really sux to have to take the upper hose off of a hot engine because a pulley locked up and ate the belt. Others will add some parts for your boonie bag.

From only MY experiences, a cam sensor, belt, tools to change both and tools to move the batteries. One thing I was told to do was if it won't start, because of suspected battery issues, is to switch the batteries from side to side, . I've done this a few times not realizing my alt was going bad. It worked for me until I realized my alt was bad and now my new batteries are bad too, lol, those are the only troubles I've had with mine.
