I just donated to the Red Cross (it's super easy - either via the text or they accept paypal, credit cards, etc.) and got in contact with the Lutheran Emergency Response organization over on that side of the state.

I'm waiting to hear back, but I know from volunteering in after-disaster type situations in the past that logistics can be tricky when you have hundreds of volunteers that all get to the point where they need food/soap/restrooms/flashlights/special-tools/water/etc. I don't mind working a chow-line or cleaning bathrooms in a situation like this.

I'm sure they have everything under control.

Feel free to post any contact info or organizations that have needs.

As the OP found out, a monetary donation to the Red Cross is probably the most efficient way to help out if you're not in the area and already assisting in person. I also made a donation to the OKC chapter of the Humane Society, as there will also be pets and livestock affected by the disaster: http://www.okhumane.org/

I would like to take the opportunity to ask that we all try to pitch in and help those who have lost family members and their homes in Moore yesterday. Our neighbors will need a lot of help for some time to reach any level of normalcy in their lives again.

Being active in the local barbeque community, I have made a donation to the Operation BBQ Relief, an organization of mostly barbeque competitors that band together to help feed the survivors and relief workers of a disaster aftermath.

There are many different ways to help but all relief organizations will need cash donations. Donations can also be sent to the American Red Cross, the local and regional food banks and to many different collection locations being setup around the state and the country.

Please help those affected by yesterday's devastating tornado.

Don't forget those in Edmond and Shawnee, as well as other surrounding areas. Moore is devastated, but others need help, too and will need assistance for many months.

As a flood survivor, Red Cross, local churches and good neighbors come in immediately and offer relief. It took us 5 months to clean-up, repair, rebuild and get back to some normalcy. After first 3 days, it was all on us. The area is overwhelmed at the moment, wait 2 -3 weeks, then volunteer your help / skills. Until that time, monetary donations to the relief organizations multiply exponentially.

I have a 18x36 ft. MGPTS military tent that I would be happy to provide for temp. shelter for someone in need. I'm not in the position to donate it permanently, but if it can be of help to someone, they can use it as long as it is needed. If you know of a organization or family that needs to use it, please let me know via pm. Tent is located in Tulsa, but can deliver. I will be out of town from may 27 to june 5, but can coordinate something before or after.
God bless,
Pat
