Some interesting choices. Looks like they're suspending the whole TAP-FPD line of loaded ammo in .223. I always wondered whether it was much of a seller.

Guys who shoot Varmint with .223 and load Hornady bullets are SOL it looks like.

A bit pinched, but far from SOL. The list of continuing available products includes at least eight different .223 component bullets of 55 gr or under.

Thankfully the excellent XTP component pistol bullets mostly made it to the "available" list.

Mostly.

I do notice that they cut all the .44 Magnum XTP loaded ammo except for the classic 240 gr load. And they even suspended production of the 300 gr XTP as a component bullet! So no loaded ammo, no components for the 300 grainer, for the rest of 2013. You'll see some pent-up demand build there. Lot of handgun/levergun hunters like that heavy jacketed bullet...

I use Hornady projectiles primarily because they are available locally. I wonder if this will prompt brick & mortar vendor to expand the brands that they carry.

Hornady is simply prioritizing what sells the best and/or allows them to maximize profitable production - why is this controversial? I understand that some who like to shoot the less commonly used rounds will be inconvenienced but this is simply an understandable reaction to economic conditions.

Happens all the time with manufacturers...guess I'm missing why people are so panicked about this.

I got a chance to take a private tour of the Hornady factory last month and talked to Steve and several Hornady employees about their plans to do this. They are simply positioning themselves to better meet the rediculious amount of orders they are getting for the high demand calibers. While expanding to better service orders for everything they sell. They are running around the clock shifts on an unbelievable amount of equipment right now in an effort catch up, and grow at the same time. Nothing is going away. This is just a business decision, a good one, that should benefit everyone in the end.

If you guys are ever in Grand Island, Nebraska I encourage you to stop by the factory. It is VERY impressive. They do tours every week as well. Great bunch of people.

I am glad I am stock up on my 308 ammo already, even though they did not susspend the 308 SST apperently I am still glad not to have to fight to find it.

I don't know, seems like they are keeping pretty much everything common. If it speeds up production I'm all for it, I can work around anything that may be on the list for now. Fortunately I didn't see anything suspended that I use...I was concerned about 6.5 Grendel but it's on the popular list.
