Been there many times (from 60 miles west of there). I've been here for over 20 years, so it's been a while, but it's not a bad place; smallish city, but has plenty of shopping, restaurants, etc. Kind of reminds me of a miniature Tulsa, in a way. Plus it's close enough to K.C., so you have pro sports, major concerts, and just about anything you want within about an hour's drive.
Perry lake is close, and I did attend a NASCAR truck race there once.

Worked there for about a year back in '87,pretty boring town back then.
I rode my long, skinny Panhead up there for a buddy's "other" wife's funeral in the mid '90s. It was, well, Kansas. Not much to see or do, but what a long funeral procession! Got stuck next to a guy with a rattly Sportster. I was certain it was going to shuck it's 3rd gear out at me any minute.
Other than the dead girl, oh, and the meth, it was a nice visit. Wouldn't want to live there.
