Congrats on the program, what is it for?

Watchmaking. Seriously.

I see a lot of good suggestions. Thanks guys. For those that suggested the cowboy boots, I've just never been a cowboy boot kind of guy, but my wife would probably be giddy with excitement should I decide one day to wear them.

It all depends on what you want to spend. Cole Haan makes good entry level dress shoes as does Allen Edmonds. If you want to lay out money, then go for A. Testoni, Zelli, Santoni, or Aldens. Buy on line. You will save money.

If you wore a size 13 and had asked 8 months ago, I could have given you enough shoes to make you look like Imelda Marcos (google it if you don't get the reference).

Shoes are extremely important.

I'm old enough to get the reference :wink2:. I have small feet for this day and age. Size 9. Maybe someday I'll get into the expensive shoes, but right now I'm just looking at good quality entry level stuff

+1 for Cole Haan...look at their chukka, wingtip, and loafer.

Timberland...chukka, wodehouse, and stormbuck.

If your going to be on a concrete for an extended period and aren't concerned about the look or style of the shoe..look at SASS shoes..there is a store in Okc. They have hugh soft sole shoes for men and women..look ugly..feel great.

Murphy J, what school are you attending for watchmaking? Will you be certified in any particular brand? Are you going to work for a company(Rolex in Dallas), jewelry store, or your own store?

When I retire, I would love to take watch making classes(audit/for fun) and would love to go to Basel Fair to see the new watches. Heck, I'd love to go to some of the factories.. A Lange & Shone, Sinn, Kobold, Patek, Vacheron, Audemars Piguet, and Ulysse Nardin

For being on my feet that much I've never worn anything but Florsheims. I love them and have about five pair at any one time. They are usually not too expensive and I've never worn a pair that is uncomfortable. I have a couple of pairs of $300 Cole Haans but would never wear them for extended standing periods like you are talking about doing. Just my personal experience.

I wear 13's and resemble a Philipino Queen, just an FYI should the fire sale come back around.
