beast1989,

Prayers and a PM sent.

The Oklahoma Cancer Center has expertise in OBGYN types of cancer and I know that ovarian cancer can be beat. She can and will win!

My wife is a 10 year survivor of Ovarian cancer, diagnosed on my birthday in 2004 with Stage IIIc. She went to the OU Physicians which is now named the Stephenson Cancer Center at the link above. The doctors here are the best, and have been recommended BY MD Anderson. When my wife wanted a second opinion from MD Anderson, they told her "Why? You have the best Dr's in the area right in Oklahoma City. We can't do anything better than them."

Now every case is different, and your girlfriends will be too. Please have her make an appointment at Stephenson before deciding. She should ask for Dr. Joan Walker. Dr. Walker saved my wife's life. And there is something extra about having a female OBGYN oncologist, my wife feels it gave her an edge over a male. Dr. Walker is very thorough. Please call her.

Sorry to hear that as well. My wife and I both lost our fathers to cancer. I can echo the thoughts on MD Anderson, they are top notch. The best treatment is the one she thinks is best. I will say don't underestimate the power of a healthy diet, vitamin supplaments, and most importantly drinking extreme amounts of water. Most people, including myself, don't drink near enough water. MSM, vitamin c, and lots of water can address most of our general health issues.

This is your best advice, Beast.^^^^^^^
There are good hospitals in Oklahoma where there is family.
There are good hospitals in Arizona, where there is also family.

Here's my own entirely subjective experience with M.D. Anderson.
We took my mother there. The Doctor was early for the appointment.
We did some tests and were rushed through in a timely manner.

We had another appointment and the doctor was early again.
Her insurance was approved and the doctor got later and later.

The greatest hospital in the world became more and more like any other hospital.
My mother was enrolled in an experiment that looked promising.

We had our hopes up high. Waiting times got longer and longer, and when we had a "bad outcome" what did we expect anyway?

I'm trying to think straight and give you a no B.S. opinion. M.D. Anderson is not all it's cracked-up to be.
Good luck

I'm happy to say that last month my SO was cleared of cancer! She will undergo surgery later this year to have her ovarian cyst removed. I'm tremendously thankful for the prayers and blessings that were sent our way from the members of the forum. I want to thank each and every one of you that posted in this thread and who sent me messages via pm.

Normally she hates when I'm on my phone reading about "gun stuff", but once I told her what I had posted on here she began checking my phone to read the comments as soon as they began to pour in. She was obviously devastated when the news first broke and the comments from you all were the only bright spots in her day. The encouraging words from you all replaced her sadness and sorrow with hope. Thank you all for the support.

Christopher
