Guy was probably just following protocol set down by the dumbed down school administration. Schools are trying to make kids so scared of anything gun related. Guns, bullets anything 2nd amendment related.

I agree that this is probably what happend................but, he could have simply stated that.... for example, "We have a strict policy that anything firearm or gun related will be confiscated and parents/police notified.......this is all that I can comment on at this time, thank you." Usually a PIO for an entity for a school states and may restate the facts, and doesn't try to defend what happened or didn't happen, or give opinion on the situation.

good point and I just think I will...........he really is not a typical school ashat.
He really is a combat marine and did 20 years as a line officer so I really cant equate this news article with the person I knew.......

yes, and why does that cause you a problem?????

LOL!!! A little defensive aren't you?

This guy is ex-military and an ex-cop, and he is currently a "security officer" at a middle school. Protocol or not, he should be the "expert" on safety and security on that campus, and in my opinion, he should be the voice of reason and not the boy who cried wolf.

I have stated in another thread that my wife's school has teachers and administrators trained an "licensed" to carry concealed on their campus, and I feel better knowing these civilians with no military or law enforcement experience are protecting my wife and daughter than I would if this guy was working security at their school.

To weigh in a little in the guy's defense now that this has had some time to sink in. Former Marine or LEO aside, the only people who are experts when it comes to ordnance are bomb disposal/EOD guys, and even they will err on the side of caution.

Anyone can paint a projectile blue...that doesn't mean it is inert. 20MM comes in HE, Incendiary and plenty of other combos. More than a few idiots have tried to bring live rounds home from the theater...

I don't want some guy who was a Marine more than a decade ago deciding what is or isn't inert if something is found at my kids school. The voice of reason in this case is the guy that says "I'm not qualified to determine if that round is inert, lets get the pros in here".
