Break it down to the FIRST things that will be needed--------
Food - canned, ready-to-eat foodstuffs (worry about other types later)
Water - chlorine tabs, filters, bottled water (then work on a still or other gathering means)
First-aid - pool what you have, use it wisely (gather more once environment stabilizes)
Shelter - find a solid structure that can be secured/defended (preferable), or build a shelter that is dry and protective (tarps, rope, nails, tools, etc.)
Warmth - the majority of natural disasters involve rain, ice or snow so a fire will be required(axes, hatchets, machetes, etc.)

Just my thoughts........

I have been flying a lot lately, and when I get bumped to First Class, I just save the little single use Alcohol bottles. I have quite a few Rum, Vodka, and Whiskey bottles stashed.

Lip gloss, nail polish, condoms, dirty magazines and hand sanitizer.... I figure that covers all the demographics except little kids and they just steal the magazines from their hiding spots anyway so, in a way, they are included too.
