I've read about guys going with faster twist on short barrels trying to get 3 full rotations of a bullet before it leaves the barrel in an attempt to get maximum stabilization. I've never actually seen one first hand though.

Yes. Saw one in a Larue OBR at a long range course I went to back in March; a 16" barreled rifle that was a dead nuts accurate shooter out to around 1200 yards. The guy teaching the course had it and had done a bunch of research using faster twists in 30 cal. barrels with excellent results, particularly for sub-sonic rounds if I remember correctly. My buddy just ordered a Krieger barrel for his 308 with this twist.

In the latest SNIPER magazine they talked about it. I'd sure like a 1/7 from Larue to try out in my rifle.
