Besides just being the obvious....i'd suggest getting someone that knows what they are doing to look at it. It could be soooo many things from bad parts to the simplest intermittent short somewhere.

I'd like to jump on here and cure the problem, but it's almost impossible without diagnosing the problem in person.

This is new technology, my friend, the smaller one is a gear reduction starter and is considerably more powerful with much less weight and mass.

Leave it to Austin to come in here crashing parties, haha. I tell you what, even though it's against my religion to work on a corvette, I'll bring my little gal over to your car and check it out for you, if it has a faulty part on it, she'll tell me all about it. It won't just tell me if the alternator or battery or regulator is bad, it specifically tells me what in it is bad.

Here she is...

Haha sorry, I just get tired of ppl asking FIX MY PROBLEM when really they're looking for validation on what they want to do. I had a friend that wanted to throw a 300 dollar alternator at the problem when that wasn't even the issue. Everyone's throwing out answers without telling how to diagnose the issue.

I also don't like when ppl blame crap parts as the go to. Sad fact of the matter is parts are crap because consumers demand lower and lower prices. If your concerned about an autozone alternator, go to the dealership. Or a local rebuilder or best bet is to rebuild the OE alternator. I realize there is more crap parts but the chance of getting 3 bad parts in a row is fairly rare. Who do you think eats the cost? The remanufacturer, not the parts store. Why do you think they'll take anything back like Walmart?

So... Would you say O'Reilly's or advanced house brand is better than autozone?

I would say that you have other choices other then the house brand. Every thing in auto zone says duralast. Where as orileys you can get ac deco, Borg warner, or even the house brand. I've put the duralast gold pads on my car and ce put the orileys house brand and the duralast squealed and howled and wore down faster. Ask most car people and not dead horse people and the majority will not use autozone. It may be my personal experiences but if I go into autozone with a part number in hand I still have to tell them make and model and argue that my car does in fact have that on there.

No need to get condescending tones on me either. I made a statement at a company why to avoid and it has been backed up by several people here about going elsewhere for parts, I even back up the culture that store breeds.

Correct alternator for your car with A/C is 61 amp. like this one. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Alternator-Remfd/_/R-NAE66020_0436149994 (note this one is Delco).
Don't get anything less than 61 amp should you choose to replace the one you have.

Contrary to popular belief, you can diagnose many issues without being in person, given enough information and some mechanical ability on the receiving end.

I cannot agree with you more on the last statement. I just went round and round with my carb and got more info and help with my odd situation over the phone with holley, the place that converted it and several different forums.

Now back on subject, have the alt tested I know they have both testers that can test on or off the car at most parts stores. And they will do it free. If it is a ground issue look into doing a big 3 ground upgrade.

Check the battery again because batteries that are not deep cycle don't like to be fully drained.
