I currently ride a 03 Kawasaki ZX-6R. Having grown up riding dirtbikes it took some getting used to, but it's not all that bad. I've done many rides that were several hours long (some were all day with stops only for gas) and my butt was a little sore, but it wasn't terrible. FWIW, the ZX-6 is known to have the most aggressive riding stance making it a little less comfortable. I've ridden some of my buddies' Hondas and Suzukis and they were more comfortable than mine.

Mr.Glock has it ..ride that ST1300
I remember the ST1100.
I grew up on bikes ,,as did the wife ,,she still has the one I got her years ago..comfy and quick a 1987 super magna,, agile enough but not like a ninja.
Although I spanked many ninja's on my old Magna,, so it comes down to rider capabilities there.

I have driven many crotch rockets and always go back to the Magna.
Which is not too far from what Mr.Glock has. This is what the wife's bike looks like. Although I still have a soft spot for the V65.
Mine ran 11.51 at thunder valley and could hit 167MPH in 3/4 of a mile,, enough to hold it's own against many bikes.. and comfy to boot.
But those are old school and hard to come by a non abused one.

They won't be great on your back. I'm in my mid-30s and never rode mine more than maybe an hour at a time. I enjoyed it a lot but had to sell my CBR in 2012 after my car wreck. My shoulder won't allow me to ride a motorcycle again.

Getcha an Arlen Ness HT frame, bolt in a hopped-up V-twin, add some apehangers , and a sissy bar so BB don't fall off the back. May not be the "sport bike " you had in mind, but at least you can roll down the highway with a dignified posture.

1. While I'm not sure he needs my approval to spend his money, I'm grateful he does at least consider our budget before going to the ATM ...

2. No, Mr. Glock ... she can't ... lol ... and

3. Mr. Kennedy, before I was a "nice police officer's" wife I was a biker's nightmare girlfriend. I'm NOT gonna fall off ...

;)

Too aggressive of a seating position for my tastes. Hurts my wrists and lower back. But I ride a K1300GT which is a sport touring bike. Took a bit of getting used to the ergo, but all the fun, plus the range.

The Yamaha VMAX is an interesting bike if your looking for something fast but with a more comfortable riding position. My brother has had a couple CBRs and now has the vmax. It is a blast to ride.

I've had a few over the years. My last was a CBR1000RR. Like others have mentioned, they take a little getting used to but once you get the iron but worked out, they are plenty comfortable. More comfortable than any cruiser type I've ever riden at distance mostly because I like to tuck in out of the wind rather than feeling like a parachute. That said, they do put pressure on your wrists unlike a cruiser but again, conditioning is everything. Been on many multiday multi-500mile/day rides and loved it.

If you want to split the difference, there are plenty of very quick sport touring bikes and they are generally a dime a dozen compared to sport bikes. Just to ask, you've got your M endorsement and judging by your username, you know how quickly a sport bike, especially a liter+ bike can turn the unintiated into a red spot on the road right? I've riden some of the best tracks in Europe on an FZR1k back in the day and I still made a point to take MSF courses and choose riding buddies carefully.

Glock cop get you a dirt bike. I am 47 years old and still love riding (KX-450) and you don't have to worry about some dumb ass driver not looking out for bikes. JMO

I've had/ridden every kind of bike available.

I would suggest a Hybrid (Naked Sport) or look into Motards (Ducati Hypermotard 1100) or some of the new 'Nostalgic' bikes from Triumph or Ducati.
