My old 1975 echo needs replaced it is a 452 and I have looked at the Echo cs 400 and it looks like a winner once you fix the lean running issues. although it is smaller than what I usually have had.

My McCulloch was from 1989 or so and was much larger and had much more power than the 44cc 452 saw.
I really hate smallish saws with no power. I have an old homelight from 1972 that would out cut both of them, but finding carb parts for those old saws became a hassle with miss packaged parts that do not fit. Not to mention bars and sprockets are hard to find or very expensive for the odd ball old stuff.
What are you guys running? and how long and hard do you run them, any good new stuff out there that will last like the old stuff.

Are there any chainsaw dealers here.

Stihl MS 290 with a 16" bar 56cc. It can run an 18" or 20" bar also. However, even a 24" diameter tree trunk can be cut just fine with a 16" and with the shorter bar, it will cut like a banshee on meth. I used to cut 12-15 ricks a year to sell, as well as a couple ricks for personal use. It also got the occasional tree trimming job. Bought it in the late 90s and cut wood for 5 years, before I lost the place to cut firewood on. Now it gets a few odd and end jobs in the year and that is it, but it still starts up like it did on day 1.

I have a Stihl 044 with a 24" bar, and a Husky (I forget the model, it's an older one) with a 16" bar. I use the latter for light jobs, and the Stihl for big ones like cutting down a tree about 22" in diameter after the wind storm a couple summers ago.

I have one of those As seen on TV WORX Jaw Saws. It is sitting in the corner, never used. I thought about sneaking over to my moms house and cut down all of those annoying little trees around the property to see how well it worked and tell her that a beaver got bored.

I work as a ranch hand in the summer between semesters, been doing this for 5 years now (I'm a grad student, so 5 years is normal :P). We do a lot of tree cutting and creek clearing in a short time! I have been using the same Stihl with a 18" bar for 5 years now. When I say I use it a lot, I mean its the only tool I use on most days (OK, I'll use my knife too). Ive cut gigantic cotton wood trees (way bigger diameter than 18") with it..no problem

We do take good care of it, and it does go into the shop, mostly to replace a carburetor. BTW do not let them clean your carburetor, always have them replace it.

Best there is IMHO

I've been running my stihl ms290 farm boss and it runs like a champ. Had it in the dirt cutting stumps below mower level and it's done great. I've also heard echo was a great brand but if I ever replace this saw, it will be with another stihl.
