I had a gun on order from an out of state gun dealer. The backorder has taken so long that I cancelled the order. I requested a refund 27 days ago and have not received a refund...and I'm not happy. The dealer has told me for 2 weeks that his accountant was on vacation and I should get a refund any day. So far nothing, and I'm still waiting for over $1700. I paid by credit card, and the dealer says the refund is taking a long time because he's sending me a check in the mail. What would you do?

Contact your CC company. They will get on pretty quick and get you a reverse charge. Might want to ask for interest as well due to the lead time.

You are getting the run around for some reason. Maybe as simple as they are waiting for more sales to cover a cash flow issue. I am not sure, either way, it's not right. I don't know how large this facility is but if it is your average gun shop, the owner will have power and access to the checkbook. If it is a large facility then they would at least have a controller or office manager that could get a check out to you.

I would suggest you call or email your dealer and make a plan. "Mr. ABC I understand the situation you are in with your accountant being on vacation. Though I find it odd that only one person has access to the checkbook especially with a two week absence, I can sympathize with your situation. That being said, my situation has drug out long enough, and it is not right. I would expect a check in my mailbox by March 14th. If not I will contact your office and expect a tracking number of a check sent certified mail. If nothing is given at that time I will be forced to seek legal council. I appreciate your attention and focus on this situation."

I have seen this go in circles forever. One time I just gave up, it was less than $100 dollars though. But you must stand firm give them dates that they know that they must take action by, if not, they know the action that you will take. And you must be willing to take that action.
