look like basically the same kit to me, the main difference is the length of the barrel. The 14.75 inch has a pinned flash hider, the other does not as it is a 16 inch barrel it will be a little longer and it is easier to take off the flash hider if you want to change it for something else. Will also be easier to deal with if you later want to put a low profile gas block and different handguard on. It will be a little longer though but to me less than two inches on a barrel isn't a lot to worry about unless you plan to do some real close quarters operations.

Out of those two I would go with the bottom one. The top one is a 14.75" barrel with a flash hider pinned to get to 16" the bottom one is a 16" barrel with a threaded on flash hider. With the bottom one it is easier to change it if you want.

Are you dead set on an m4 style? in about the price range for that kit you can build something a bit more tailored to your preferences.

Personally, I'd just start from scratch and not get a kit.
Like what gfercaks33 said, build something a bit more tailored to your preferences.
I'd be more than willing to help you choose what is good and what would suit you best.

OKC, the finest place to be!
I would say not to limit yourself by buying a complete kit. You can purchase a lower parts kit from places like Primary Arms, MidwayUSA, Brownells, or even locally at Marks Firearms or Safety First Gun Range. You can then buy a complete upper with Bolt Carrier group, buffer tube, buffer, buffer spring, and stock of your choice. If you are going to build an AR, might as well customize it how you want.

If it's what you want and it's all in a package, buy it. I found everything I wanted on the Aero precision site the other night, and bought it all from them. The entire rifle is coming from them except the trigger, charging handle and flash hider.

I'm getting ready to do my first AR build. I'm using a standard Spikes lower, and I've narrowed my rifle kits to these two kits.

I'm leaning toward the M4 kit, but since I'm not well versed in the AR15, I'm hoping someone can explain the pros and cons of each. I'm also considering something from BA guns, I just want to make a well informed decision.

Thanks everyone.

Mission drives equipment. What do you plan to do with your new blaster? Casual plinking, competition, precision shooting, high round count training?

Not much difference between the two kits you posted besides the twist rate. The difference in barrel lengths is negligible.

The 1-7 would let you experiment with heavier bullets if that's something you might be interested in. The 1-9 is fine too but the 70+ grain rounds start to push the limits….
