I've never shot a bowling pin match - so I have a couple questions. Do you draw or shoot from a ready position? What type of handgun is adequate? 9mm? 45? What is the round count typically per match?

It looks like a good time, I might try to come over and shoot.

Answers:
- Shooting is from a ready position (shooter at the barrier, gun at lowered ready position (45 degree angle downward) until the fire command
- The most common caliber used is 9mm Luger (probably 115 gr FMJ) but using a fatter (.45 caliber) and a flat nose/SWC bullet both seem to give advantages. A lot of the 9mm users knock the pins over but fail to have them clear the table without follow-up shots.
- Any type handgun is adequate but most fire semi auto as speed of reload does count. Having said that, there are a few revolver shooters with impressive speed loading skills who do respectably.
- Semi-autos are limited to no more than 8 rds per magazine and the gun must be empty/safe before loading.
- Revolvers have a different limit which I cannot recall (Ratski help me out here)

Hope that helps a bit.

Revolvers are those things that have the round cylinders in them mugsy.
You can usually only put 6 bullets in them!!

Actually, I think that the limit is 6 for revolvers, but 8 for semi autos.

Take a look at this thread

Come on out. It is a really, really good time.
Even though it is a competition, it seems like everyone roots for everyone else.

Are any of the Lawton FGST guys going? I can't make this one and Bull wants to go, but only if some of you guys are going too.

I'm going to do my best to be there.

Gonna post in the other thread in a bit.

Going to try ... still a little hit or miss, may have to be in pirate mode.

Well today's event was really lively. The rain came in waves and cooled down the range. Ratski was kickin some rear, but I got called away before it came down to the final 6 shooters.
I don't know who won it, but my buddy Tim Valentine hung in there for quite some time. Maybe I will get in there this next go round. I'm trying to get my P.T. over with
and get my hands to working right again. I will post the videos and photos that I got from today's event on my facebook page for anyone wanting to see them.
