Will Charleston take us back to 2013, or are we out of the woods yet?

Hi, this is my first thread, so if it's in the wrong place I apologize in advance.

There's a lot of talk on some other forums about whether or not there's going to be a rush to buy guns and ammo due to what Obama said about the Charleston shooting. Some people were saying early on that we were certain to be plunged back into the 2013 shortage, which hasn't appeared to be the case so far. So are we out of the woods yet, or is there still any danger of a buying frenzy?

I would love to get everyone's take on this. I wasn't really paying attention back in 2012, so I don't really know how everything played out in the first few days after Sandy Hook. I think it was about a week after the shooting that I first heard about the buying frenzy, naturally when I walked into H&H to see the shelves 90% empty. Boy, was I ever surprised!

I have been wondering the same thing myself. I don't THINK Charleston will have the same impact only for a couple of reasons. First, there was not AR involved it was a 45 pistol. Second, the victims were not little kids. I know the media and politicians are trying to use this to their advantage but I don't see much more than another attempt at 100% background checks for private as well as retail sales. That said, I have my eye on a new pea shooter but I am considering ammo instead.

It took a couple of days for the panic to set in after Sandy Hook. I don't think it will happen this time, but the Dem talking points on the Sunday shows will be a good indicator.

Personally, I think they'll push hard to eliminate private sales and gifts of firearms w/o a FFL transfer, due to the possibility that the gun used was a gift from a relative.

They will push for that even though the gun was given to the guy illegally already. Frankly, I want to see the father prosecuted as well as the guy's roommate since he said it was planned for the last six months. So much went wrong but the push will be for more gun control that are completely unrelated to the Charleston tradgedy.

Not this time. Not until it looks like a serious push in Congress for action....and Congress isn't about "action" these days.

On another forum, a gun shop owner was telling me that the last frenzy hit the very next day. He said it was instantaneous, like he unlocked the doors that morning and it was an instant mad house. I don't remember it happening that quick around here, from what I heard from other people. Maybe it started in a particular area and spread out from there?

I kind of feel like we're out of the woods, at least for now. Then again, Obama might say something stupid at any time.

S&W had seen positive gains for the last 7 quarters straight, outperforming analyst expectations. It was down to about 9/share several months ago(when I bought in) and is still a strong buy. It's around 16 and some expect it to hit 21...

Obama is already calling on all mayors to increase gun control methods but I seriously doubt any legislation will come of it, but you never know
