My Daughter, who lives in Mustang, lost power last night. She is wanting to buy a portable gas-powered generator. Of ccourse, you can't find anything local today. Told her I'd ask arund to see if anyone has one for sale or knows who might. Text me at 405-227-4270 please. Thanks.

Home Depot was great a few years ago when we had THE ice storm.

They were bringing in pre-positioned trucks that were set up for disaster/hurricane recovery.

Truckloads of generators, but not all at once. One or two semis a day.

Also, she needs to get gas cans (5 gallon, not two gallon. Minimum of 4)

Extension chords. the larger the gauge the better.

There is a lot of learning and schooling on gennys.

Been running mine for 24 hours and it doesn't look like it will let up soon.

Looks like the kids found one at Tractor Supply. They are mostly woried about all the meat in the freezer...I told them to just put it in a box and set it outside for the night with something heavy on it to keep the mutts out. I mean; it's not like it's gonna thaw out tonight out on the back porch you know. Then open a bottle of wine, build a fire, and grab a blanket by the fireplace. But nooooo, old Pops don't know shizz it seems.

Just got done powering one over at my parents. Got the 10,000+ watt unit going. They need about 7500 watts to power the furnace there. Have plenty left to work the fridge & lights aswell. No washers, dryers, or oven , Mom has always preferred a gas stove so that's a plus also in these weather conditions.

make sure you change the oil...

cheaper the generator, the more/more frequent, oil changes

learned the hard way

I like to try to change it every 48 hours of use. At least.
Power just came back on.

Oil change will be on my "to do" list tomorrow!!

Also, Air filter.

Craigslist had lots of generators recently. I bought a generac 8000 continuous, 10,000 surge for $600 brand new with zero hours about a month ago. The best prices on gas cans are at Walmart, $13.00/5 gallon. Everywhere else is around $20.
