I'm using 1:7" twist but I guess the question is the same for all twist rates.

How much change of point of impact do rifles have for different weight bullets?
Stereotypical info says 1:9" shoots the lighter weight better and 1:7" imparts the needed spin to stabilize the heavier bullets.
What is your POI change when shooting the poorer weight (for your rifle)?
Is it typical? Low and left? High and right? Or?

i've not loaded any 75 grain bullets yet, but shooting 55gr in 1:7 always seemed to be low left except for a PSA FN barreled 16", it shot left a couple of inches, windage brought into the black. i currently use ARP 5R barrels which are 1:8 ,,, don't recall the POI, seems it was a teensy bit low left, just a few scope clicks got into the black quickly.

I only have one AR in 1-7 twist and it doesn't handle 55 grain or lighter bullets well enough to measure point of impact. The rounds impact over a wide area with the lighter bullets. It handles 77 grain bullets fine, but nothing lighter than 68 even come close to usable in my case.

Dudes,
For whatever you have and shoot the most of is what you probably should zero with. Even the exact same type and manufacture of ammunition can have drastic differences in POI down range between individual lots of production.

Zero. Confirm zero regularly. Find out your differences in POI-vs-POA if you're using a different type of ammo that you're not zeroed for. It's part of being a responsible and competent rifleman.

Yeah, no telling where that load came from...
In other news, the 77gr TMK bullet literally cuts that group in half.
I have zeroed the TMK load at 50 yards with an aimpoint, and i could cover the group with a thumb nail.

Guess I'll have to toss out all my Razor Core and buy the latest and greatest.

When is the next range day?
