Have a Canon safe, 15 years old or so. Have been meaning to convert the electronic lock over to mechanical for some time. Haven't had any problems with it, but I just don't like the thought of being locked out due to an electrical snafu as all electronics usually fail given enough time.

Anybody done the swap and can recommend a reputable Smithy?

Any ideas on cost? I've read that I should use an S&G replacement lock..

Thoughts.?

I'm not a locksmith, but I have changed out the locks before. It's not that hard to do, just some basic hand tools and a little bit of mechanical skills. Just be sure and check that everything is working right before closing the door.

Canon usually gives you the electronic lock free on older dial safes and with a short YouTube video they are easy to swap. I did mine in about 15 minutes...I just reread your post...you are going from electronic to mechanical, should still be easy. Just reverse the procedure.
