I learned long ago selling guns that a pawn shop will typically give you about 1/4 of a gun's value, and a gun shop might give closer to 1/2. There are exceptions, of course, but this is a good rule to start from. If you didn't like the "attitudes", that's a legitimate point...but the offer was normal.

Probably wouldn't have cared about the "offer" if not for the attitude. Of course, they think it's the reverse...so be it. Sad thing is their employee did a great job and I REALLY wanted the gun.
Live and learn I guess...

I've had the same experience before, and can empathize.

Everyone involved in this discussion should know the only reason i even went to your establishment was that I like one of your partners. I'm thinking now he didn't remember me because when I handed him the gun he turned and handed it to you? Or whoever the guy was. It's really easy to laugh about now I guess, since who cares what one old guy thinks of your business. He(or you, (not sure who you are) could have just as easily said hi, introduced himself and said he'd rather not trade or couldn't do me justice on the gun. No big deal....it just drove home the point for me. It's probably best I buy on line .
Guess my expectations are out of line with reality huh? By the way if you'd like you can pm me and discuss further.

I'm out
I think I do remember you but I did work on a few thousand alarm systems while working as a service tech. The reason I handed your gun to Purplehaze is that I had many online orders to ship and get really behind if I go up front and research firearms. The offer was fair considering the amount of holster wear and you did not have the factory box, paperwork, extra mag. Those items do make a big difference when selling a gun. It is also a single stack 45 and most people are after a 9mm these days. Don't get me wrong, I love 45 ACP! One must consider when they bring something used into a retail establishment they will not get near what they could sell it for here on OSA or gunbroker or armslist. Thank you for coming in to our shop and giving us a chance at your business. Sometimes we do rub folks the wrong way as we are human and in business to make a profit.

I tried to sell a gun to a gun shop once. Was offered about 60% of what I thought I could sell it for. Didn't need the cash that bad. I had no hard feelings to the guy.

I've been in to Fat Boy Tactical several times. If they're busy, they don't have as much time to be friendly. If they're slow, they'll spend as much time chatting as you want to.

But if they offer to show you the back room...

The first rule about the back room is we don't talk about the back room...

Gun people have to be some of THE most emotional buyers on the planet.

Some of Y'all have short term memories. I remember when Sandy Hook when down and online retailers like Cheaper than Dirt were posting get F'ed prices. I don't give a flying F if Jeff and gets bitchee. When push came to shove and Fat Boy sold Mega lowers and several other brands, when they got them in, at normal prices. Even let everyone here on OSA know ahead of time. Meanwhile..... online it was $500+.

I would like to apologize for not over-valuing the gun. I have a nasty habit of doing that, heck, I've even done that to a few manufacturers and distributors. If we can't make money we aren't interested in investing.

On a lighter note, we have 50,000+ rounds of Aguila 22lr ammo in stock and lots of CCI 22 magnum. Take your kids to the range and have some fun.
