75-76 during the day, 72 at night. I deal with heat much better than cold.

tRidiot, if you build your own place, use an ERV. It can control the pressure in your house, which will stop your HVAC unit from pulling it below outside ambient. That causes hot outside air to seep in from every possible place. The ERV stops that. Good A/C, ERV, good insulation can make an insane difference.
A properly designed and installed AC unit shouldn't cause any substantial pressure differences inside the home. An ERV is a good thing to have, but it is more for recovery when there are pressure differentials such as when a door is opened or when you run an exhaust fan. The single best thing you can do when building a house is to have a blower door test performed and make sure your house has been properly sealed against air leakage prior to finishing the inside. You only get one chance to seal a home properly.

i didn't turn the A/C on till last friday, i try to make it past the middle of june before turning it on, i'm on bill averaging and it helps keep the average low
i work 7:00 ~3:30 right now when i leave for work the A/Cs (have 2 window units) are set at 83, when i get home i turn them down to 77
83 feels good after being outside all day, i'm not actually out side, but in a weld shop with sleeves, apron and hood on it's just like outside
by the time i get showered and dinner fixed i've got my body temp down and 77 feels great and it's a good sleeping temp (for me at least)

everyone is different on what's comfortable .. our house is set at 75f .. any lower and it feels too cold.
just got electric bill for mid June to mid July with record heat .. $138 for a 2500sf single level house, very well insulated with double pane glass, surrounded by huge 5ft diameter Oak trees.

ultra low electric bill results from a combination of reasons. my HVAC runs a monster sized semi-hermetic three phase compressor that cools with a miniature water tower. I've replaced all the 1950's pieces with modern components. my neighborhood originally all had water tower HVAC units. I'm the only one left still running a water tower. since it's almost impossible to find an HVAC tech willing to work on small water tower units.

72 first thing in the AM, 73/74 during the day (wife), 72 when I get home, 69/70 at night. I had the the stat programmed to run slightly higher temps from last year so we been just doing this manually so far all summer until I get around to it.
