What are all those fine upstanding law abiding citizens going to do with those AR's in a year when they are required to dispose of them? Wouldn't it be a shame if a certain group of them were charged with a firearm felony and lost their voting rights if they refuse to give them up as their law requires. Hummm

Probably what New York and Connecticut did. NOTHING...

According to the state just 23,847 people registered their so-called “assault weapons” since the 2013 law took effect. These people registered a total of 44,485 firearms. So, according to the NSSF’s estimate, some 976,153 New Yorkers didn’t register their “assault weapons.”

This means that nearly one million New York State residents might now be committing felonies—this has turned average, and presumably otherwise law-abiding citizens, into a class of people who are now living beyond the law.

For the anti gunners, the best thing to do is to do nothing. Lull people into a false sense of security and when one violating the law gets a traffic ticket, they have you. Oh by the way Mr X, you have an unregistered AR......... One Arrest never makes the front page news and most gun owners will be none the wiser.

Boating accident

Lmao!
This isn't directed at you because I'm sure you were being sarcastic, but why does everyone resort to "boating accident"? Do all those guys honestly think that if someone comes for their guns that they are just going to believe the 20-30 people every day that tell them that they just so happened to lose ALL OF THEIR GUNS at ONE TIME, in a boating accident in which no one was injured, no boat was lost, no rescue was necessary, no insurance was claimed or police report filed?
Like "yeah, Agent Serious, i had 4 ARs and a couple Saiga 12s in ONE 75 pound duffle bag, on someone else's boat, because we wanted to fish with 5.56 and buckshot. He hit the gas, while i was holding that bag at chest level, I lost my balance and dropped the whole thing over board. And no I don't remember the guy's name, I had just met him the day before, at Starbuck's and haven't seen him since. So you see, there's absolutely no reason for you and those two police officers and three National Guard Soldiers in that Humvee to come look in my house for them. Also..... why does that cop have a metal detector and a shovel??? And no thank you, id rather not sit in the backseat of your cruiser while you search."

Too funny!

Well, that's sort of the point, isn't it?

Plus, unless the people asking the questions have evidence that proves otherwise, they really are not able to do anything except take your word for it. The law works on what they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

Buried them somewhere out on the back 40 acres. Damned if I can remember where at now. Good luck finding them.... Or was that at the old place... My memory is just going to crap.

But seriously, the one things the Kommiefornian's have that the other states don't is a squad that has nothing to do other than to search out firearms for people who are not supposed to have them. There will be a backlog but I bet they start trying to go after any that are suspected. Too bad they have such a huge prison overpopulation problem out there though. What will they do with another million people in prison? Even if it ends up being a slap on the wrist they will likely still end up with a felony killing their right in other states. My suggestion is if you own a firearm and live in the state is to pack up and leave now, find a job when you get to a friendlier state.

Yes, should the laws that are currently in place remain as such, you are correct.

But if you're in a scenario deep enough to think of the usability of various explanations for the whereabouts of your firearms, why not take into consideration a worst case scenario???

I understand the conversation was directed at Cali, but my active imagination sees the possibility of the abomination that is The People's rights there being but the beginning of the Democratic "end game".
