here is the scale thing I built.
I used rattle can lids (as pans)and craft wire to hold my stuff.

I have been reading that some 300 blackout shooters are going to a heavier buffer. Mine will handle 120 grain ammo fine but not 208s so I am going to try a heavier buffer.

Is it not cycling with the 208? I have a H2 in mine I think and only run 125gr handloads. I have an adjustable gas block set to barely give full cycle with those loads and it wont cycle subs right now without a can but thats fine with me. I have a 16" with pistol gas lenght. I dont know if that helps any.

The 300BLK forum consensus is telling me that a MID length gas system on a 300blk won't work with off the shelf ammo. I'll have to handload every round to be shot thru it as the gas port is way to far out there to work the bcg correctly. :(

Stopped by FBT this afternoon to purchase a pistol length gas barrel, they are out of them till next week. :(
Guess I'll bide my time and get one when they show up.
I'm done with the present barrel, may try to modify it for a shorter gas tube if the barrel OD allows for a standard gas block.

When I stopped by FBT this afternoon I took down some gas block sizes...........guess what, my barrel is .875 (between the gas port and the barrel nut), FBT has a low profile gas block .875 for $24.99! ! !
Anybody up for helping me measure and drill a new gas port on my S/S barrel?? :)
If I have time tomorrow or Saturday I will probably just buy the gas block and tube, see how many minds can assist me with measuring and double checking and we'll drill a new gas port in this darn thing!
Now for covering up the old gas port. I would imagine that welding would be the most accepted method but would it be possible to buy another low profile gas block, grind off the tube side so it's fairly round and install with one of the set screws in the top of the gas port?
IF, it will clear my low profile hand guard.
Give me your opinion. If you have the capability and skill to weld the port close, I'd be willing to let you do it also.

That's good news, since a mid-length .300 blk barrel is pretty much worthless used. May as well try and make it work. If you don't mind, where did you get that barrel?

Midway has stoner blackout barrels on sale damn cheap right now. Wish I could afford one. I wouldnt weld it unless your writing it off as a total loss. I saw a 6.8 barrel that someone did that too and it caused a restriction in the barrel at that point. About a 8" group is all it would ever doo.

I got the barrel at FBT. I didn't know what I was looking for and obviously they didn't know what they were selling. S**t happens ya know. I'm not gonna whine about it. I do think I'll go ahead and try to drill it and install another gas block over the old gas port. Heck, I might as well use the block that is on it since it has a mid length tube that won't be used for anything that I have in mind.
Buy me a new low profile gas block with pistol length tube, drill then new port, install old block with set screw in the old port and run it. Better than having a $120 S/S barrel laying around that nobody will buy unless pennies on the dollar.
