I purchased an H&R Model 700 .22 WMRF rifle a few days ago. Haven't received it yet but I would like to get some opinions on this rifle. Mine appears to be in excellent condition and comes with 1 10 round magazine. It has a walnut stock and is not checkered. Not the deluxe model in other words. I've been assured that the AMT Magnum Hunter stainless steel magazines will work in these just fine. If anyone knows for sure let me know because I just purchased 2 of these. I remember these rifles from the 80's and I always wanted one. Any idea of the value would also be much appreciated.

I guess if no one else will reply to my thread then I will. I just found out that my rifle was mfg'd in 1977 as the serial number has an AR prefix.

Thank you Dennis. I have received the rifle and other than a few very minor flaws in the wood finish this
rifle is 99 %+. I did strip the wood and refinish with tongue oil and using 0000 steel wool between
coats. It gave it a beautiful hand rubbed finish. Other than that all I did was a basic cleaning and there
wasn't much of that to do. But as I said the rifle is 40 years old. The receiver is tapped for a scope but I
don't have plans for doing that. I do intend to install sling swivel's and a Brown leather military sling. So
far the only thing I don't like about the rifle is that there is no hold open for the bolt. The stainless 10
shot magazines I bought do not lock in like the original. In order to do so I have to have the bolt all the
way to the rear when I insert the magazine. Once I release the charging handle the mag is secure. Now
I'm just looking forward to a test firing at the range.
