Well...let's see... ...I have 30 in the rifle and another 60 on my pack. That's 90 rounds of ammo.

If I'm in a situation where I will need any more than that, I'm already in sheet up to my neck. Call me crazy, but I don't see how another 30 rounds is really gonna help. :ugh2:

Besides, I just wanna keep all my gear together in one handy loadout.

I have and don't like the milsurp cleaning kits. The rod is steel. Not good to have steel on steel when swabbing out the barrel.

I don't disagree with you, but I also find it funny that some bench-resters say hard steel rods are better than brass because you can't embed grit in them and turn your cleaning rod into a lapping rod.

My point, really, is that I found gun cleaning is as bad as religion. Talk to 5 people, get 5 different answers.

You are probably comparing one piece rods to 3 piece rods. There's a world of difference

I prefer coated Dewey rods and I wipe them down with a clean soft cloth on each pass. However, for .22 caliber I have a 1 piece stainless rod and I've polished it smooth to make it easier to clean gunk off. I also religiously use the guides they come with so as to cut down on rub caused by the rod flexing.

Seems like if you needed more than 30 you might be in it up to your neck, too, but I guess three cleaning kits would be unnecessary. Here's hoping you never need 120! Or for that matter, 90, 60 or 30.... :)
