Everybody says Nufinish. I use liquid turtle wax. It works fine.
If you put the brass into the media before the liquid polish dries, it will coat the brass making all the dust stick to the brass, and no amount of tumbling will remove it.
Been there, done that.
I think Flitz can be used, too.

Absolutely. I asked if OP was asking about a vibratory tumbler. Appears that he has a vibratory tumbler.

That's all I use. Cheapo rock tumbler from Harbor Freight and stainless pins. I thought about vibratory and stainless, but you'd have to have enough media to completely cover the brass that way.
So, I decided to try 1/2 Corn Cob and 1/2 white rice with a cap of nu-finish. Worked very well. I am impressed. I will now try the walnut from petsmart on the next batch. Thanks for sharing ideas!!
