Anyone big on gardening ? The wife and I do and being as we're both 50+, she can vacuum seal or can all that we grow.. If so what grows best for ya, specific variety's or strain would be nice.. A real gardener is always looking for more and bigger veggies or fruits.. We'll be giving peanuts a go this year as well as moving potatoes and carrots to container grown..

We do a garden every year. Love it.

Last year was disappointing. Tomatoes never ripened, hot peppers took forever to get started and didn't produce much before the freeze.

Last year I got many of my plants from the Jenks festival. I may just go back to buying them from Home Depot.

The wife gets me outside diggin' in the dirt a lot in the spring and summer. She likes perennials, they do get better as the years pass for sure. I'm mostly just the "help", cheap labor if you will, but I do enjoy the few fresh veggies we get. Cherry tomatoes in containers do best for us, we have had no luck with the Big Boys/Better Boys and what have you, usually end up with mostly tomato stalks, pretty much. We do manage to grow squash pretty well, and lots of herbs; basil, mint, lavender, rosemary...I like those fresh herbs for cooking.

Tomato's are a staple in our life, so have several plants. We do various peppers, cucumbers, squash, onions, cantaloupe, spinach, little okra, and a few other things at times.

2 products that will serve your growing well, while it's called tomato tone we use it on most everything that we want production from and a little goes a long ways.. A level tablespoon in the hole before setting the plant.. Azomite is minerals deluxe, we use it on everything.. I'll put some in a watering can and water with it, it'll look like your watering with dirty water..

Both products come in smaller packages but of course cost goes up..

Our garden is 70' X 40'. Planted my seeds last week and went to Attwoods for one of the small green houses they had on sale. Noticed some heads popping out of the pots yesterday.
I've got 16 tomato plants, mostly heirloom varieties, and some jet star. Spaghetti squash, 15 red, green, yellow bell peppers and 4 jalapeño mild variety.
I get a soul sample analyzed every year to see what the soil needs.

Best I can do, until I get a house of my own, is a couple big pots on my apartment porch. That being said, I did really well with a tomato plant and a sweet pepper plant last year. Looking forward to giving it another go this spring.
