I am fixing to start loading for my 7 62x39 AR15. My goal is to make some 2500fps ammo shooting SMK 135gr.
I was wondering what your experiences are loading this cartridge and what powders you use.

i loaded, but haven't tested yet, some up using H4198 along with a 123 or 125 gr Nosler blue tip bullet they were selling on SPS as an intro, if we liked it they'd put the bullet into regular production

I am looking for a bit heavier boat tail to boost b.c.. My rifle shoots minute of chest @500 yards with Tulamo. My goal is to pump up velocity to 2500+ fps. I want a 600 and in rifle for hogs and deer and two legged vermin.
I really feel like it is easily reachable using the AR design.

i haven't chrono'd any of these yet, i use an ARP barrel and thru iron sights @40 yards using Fiocchi factory loads was putting em on top of each other, literally bullet hole in a bullet hole. it's been too cold to go shoot lately, the good days we've had i was doing yard cleanup and getting garden area cleared. this rifle is in a spare Mega Arms upper/lower i had around, using ARP's bolt too along with the new CPD mags that have been working fine. once i get some chrono info i'll post it

The internet experts will tell you that the CPD mags are junk. I have 12 of them and they all are as good as any other mag. None of my buddies have any problems with theirs either. I am thinking of getting a 5 round and a 20 Round mag as well.

I really feel like that cartridge has alot more to offer. I realize when you make ammo for a rifle with a sheetmetal reciever with a pop riveted in barrel, you can only push the pressure so far. But such is not the case with the AR design.
I plan to use the 135 matchking.
But.... for the record, my rifle does better than i thought it would on Tulamo from walmart. I cant wait to see how real ammo will do!!!!
