Agreed, but the biggest issue is use of the light. Too many people want to point the light directly at what they want to look at, rather than using the spill. Almost everyone overutilizes their light too. Light discipline is hard because things that go bump in the dark are scary and the light is a psychological salve. I should point out that just because I ccw a G19 w/Surefire X300 & DG switch, I still carry a handheld light off side. Never use a wml for search or general illumination and sparingly with the spill for potential threat ID.

Larue clips are tits!

I use a Vltor QD offset mount. 9:00 mounting puts the light at 11:00. Perfect reach on the Surefire 600 tailap with the support hand and if I have to shoot off shoulder, I can still reach all the way over and activate it if necessary.

Larue also has an amazon, which is double tits.

12 styles in the tactical clips too:

I agree 100% with this. I carry a handheld light 24/7, and have one near all my firearms, in my vehicles, and bags. The WML spill would used when my off hand is dealing with something else like picking up my kid, etc, and a light was NEEDED (not wanted, big difference most forget about). Most people under estimate how good their night vision is or can be with just the smallest amount of ambient light, and the use of the light kills that. I would also say that a good number of people, some on this board, and others, are still afraid of WML's because they think anything they point the light at is being muzzled. It's a light, not a laser, and like you said, I can use the spill or flood and be good, WHEN NECESSARY OR NEEDED (emphasis added for others, not you lol).

I use a VLTOR qd mount. It positions the light perfectly so a switch is not needed. I still have a switch though.
It seems like most folks spend just enuf time to find what works at that time and then become rigid in its use.
Problem is, what works for that time wont ALWAYS work at other times. So i try to remain flexable and adapt my gear as current mission requires.

Just mounted the Streamlight Pro-Tac 1 ($92 at GG&G) on my BCM Mod 0 (mid length) AR. Do not need the pressure pad/switch since the tail cap switch is within a centimeter of my thumb.
