I saw that OK2A put out an alert that the Constitutional carry bill will be heard tomorrow and they are asking for supporters to call the representative.

I called in support to both my representative and my senator. That said, I see some (minor-ish) flaws with this bill. Look at page 14:
1. "Sawed-off shotgun or rifle" means any shotgun or rifle which has been shortened to any length.
That would seem to cover entirely legal firearms just because they're not as long as they once were--say, cutting a 28" shotgun barrel down to 26" (the minimum being 18"), or sporterizing that old '03 Springfield (I actually have one that's been cut down thus, but is still well within federal limits).

Similarly:
3. "Altered air pistol" means any air pistol manufactured to propel projectiles by air pressure which has been altered from its original manufactured state.
Does that include, say, changing the sights? A strict reading would say "yes."

Just a couple of thoughts. I still think the bill should be passed, but we ought to look to amend those portions, either while it's still on the floor or by subsequent legislation.

That is existing law not part of the amendment, notice no underline of the actual definition. However if you notice in the paragraph above the definitions it says "For purposes of this section" and this section of the law is dealing with "convicted felons and delinquents" (section 1283) it does not apply to regular folks.

It's still bad law. It's already illegal for felons to possess firearms; who cares if that '03 Springfield was sporterized (possibly by a previous owner, without the felon's knowledge)? I don't know if a felony is a preclusion on airguns in Oklahoma (it's not at the federal level), but if it's not, why should a change of sights suddenly make it illegal, and if it is, well, it's already covered.

Those sections should be stricken in their entirely.

Agreed that it's not a necessary part of law and don't really understand why it's there. Just saying it's not part of the constitutional carry amendment to SB6. It's been in the law as long as I can remember. I believe the intent for the part about modifying air guns was making them look more "real" but as you say the way it's written it could be just changing the sights or adding a scope.
