Do additives like Seafoam or Lucas do anything?

In the gas tank, after seeing some guys on youtube scope their motors after using it, I'm not sure of it's merit. DO NOT put Seafoam in the intake of that Ecoboost though.

I've used it through the intakes on some my cars. Seems to help clean out the gunk. Not my turbo or supercharged ones though. I don't use it in my car gas tanks but do put some in my mower the first and last tanks of the year.

I've used Berryman B12 in some of my older vehicles, not sure if it helped really, but I guess it didn't hurt. Never used it to solve any problems, just trying to keep things clean.

I would't expect any miracles. I've used seafoam in a couple older carburetor equipped vehicles. (trickled down the carb throat) I want to say it did some good, but I don't have anything to back that up. I've used marvel mystery oil as an oil additive to quiet noisy lifters in an engine that had sat for a long time and had a questionable history.
I wouldn't put any snake oil additives in a 36k mile vehicle though......that thing is still new.

I have used BG system intake cleaner that is sucked through the intake vacuum hose.
And I used sea foam the same way.. took 2 cans of sea foam to do what 1 can of BG will do.

Now what I was curing was a carbon knock. The cars came in with a horrible knock that sounded like a rod knocking.
This was at an idle mind you.
The sea foam and BG cured the vehicles.

Only thing in the tank i have ever seen do anything is drip gas.. and not all drip gas acts the same.

The cars with carbon knock had 5x more miles than your vehicle.

You should not need to add anything to the tank.

Lucas oil treatment is bad news.
It creates foaming in oil.. research it.. that is not good at all.

I have had many fuel injected vehicles and none of then ever had a dirty tank or injector.
the corolla just turned 300,000 miles.
The pump gasoline has a lot of additives to keep the system clean. if you drive it often and maintain it there should not be any build up.
Now if you park it for a couple weeks and drive it 5 miles then park it again,, all bets are off.

And some of that direct injection stuff does not apply to the above.. that is a terrible set up in my book.

I use a lot of sea foam mainly as a stabilizer because I have a lot of stuff that does not get ran very often such as welders. I put it in some two stroke gas I mixed when I got a new chain saw about 5 years ago. Maybe longer. Im still using the same gas in that saw.
