When we become polarized to the point of reducing all discussions to "conservatives vs. liberals", or more generally labeling people as "liberals" because that is the out-group, we (i.e., all firearm and outdoor enthusiasts) will pay a dear price for it. It's a normal process, and wholly understandable, but I sure hope for the sake of the future of firearms freedom that we as a community make a conscious effort to not fall into that nasty trap because the outcome is always a loss to everyone. If you're curious how these processes work in practice, check out the details of in-group favoritism, out-group derogation, social influence from the in/out group perspective, group polarization, in-group heterogeneity, and outgroup homogeneity--there's much more to consider, but those are good starters. It's no accident that all religious ideologies have one thing in common--a major emphasis on The Golden Rule. A little humanity and understanding will go a long way, friends. Peace and love.

One would hope! However, I fear unless we start over fresh in Congress to eliminate the "good ole boy system" it a tough row to hoe.
Yeah, part of the problem is politicians (and the media) use these group polarization processes along with scarcity-tactics and propaganda to purposely invoke fear, unrest, and to more generally sell votes. It works, and works well. But, just as we can inoculate ourselves against nasty diseases, we can also inoculate ourselves against nasty group processes.

I'm guilty of this. But, I really do not have a problem with those who have differing ideology until they try to force that ideology onto me. Examples - Gun control, political correctness, or choose your gender bathroom selection that effects my kids. In fact, I'm liberal minded in some ways such as marijuana - it should be legal for adults. It's the fringe right and fringe left that create most of the division. With that said, I just don't understand how someone who believes in the 2nd amendment, and its true purpose of providing the means for a people to fight a tyrannical government, can support the Democrat / Liberal agenda of gun control.

For most people, values/morals are prioritized and then are often conflicting if you have to choose a group (which is the false dichotomy sold by our corrupt political system). If you're interested, there's more about values here (http://scholarworks.gvsu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1116&context=orpc) and morals here (https://www.ted.com/talks/jonathan_haidt_on_the_moral_mind). Those just scratch the surface, but go well beyond typical MSM articles on these topics.
