I think it's important to remember those who gave their all for their country.

The tragedy of the youngest of each generation having to sacrifice for our security and freedom. Even if you believe the cause is not always just or unnecessary, it's hard to fault the men who simply answered the call of their country.

I'd like to particularly thank the Vietnam vets, as well. the way they were treated when they got back from the war was truly deplorable, and i appreciate their sacrifices. I'll never fully understand what the vets went through, having not been there myself. My grandfather was a vietnam vet, and i saw what the war did to him. He's a 100% disabled vet, it's hard not to appreciate what they went through.

I'm glad that the veterans today are more appreciated than the ones past, even if our treatment of them needs a lot of work in many cases, especially in regards to the VA. I appreciate all vets for their service, regardless of the nature of that service. Sometimes it's not what you do or saw, but the service you rendered by going in.

Put too many Good Men in the ground. I send a note to every Widow or Parent of these men this time of year. The pain never goes away, some have moved on and remarried, some are still too broken to move on or simply feel they can not. Their loss and the Sacrifices made by their Soldiers is undoubtedly one of the highest honor. May they obtain some form of solace in that fact. God bless these men and their families, and the rest of those great Americans that gave ALL for this great Nation.

Hope I can make it to the ceremony tomorrow morning. I think we missed it last year, but I think it is important to take my son. He was pretty moved by it a couple years ago and got to meet one of our last surviving WWII vets from this area who is still out and about and functional on a daily basis.

Thanks again to all who served.

I'm happy to hear you're taking your son along, he's probably gaining some invaluable life lessons from the experience.

Definitely a conscious decision on our part to try to instill in him the best values and appreciation for those who have gone before. I come from a military family on both sides, but didn't serve myself. He hasn't had much exposure, as both grandfathers and my father died many years ago. He is a good kid, and he is about as respectful and appreciative as 11 year-olds get. Just hoping to instill even more respect and honor for our armed forces as the years go by.

Honestly, it will be tough on me to make the ceremony, after working all night and driving home, and needing to get back up and go back to work, so it is going to end up cutting my sleep a bit short, but it will be worth it, I think. To see and honor the sacrifices of others myself, as well as setting an example for my boy.
